Transportation of a printer

Essential rules of printer moving

Nowadays, the most advanced technologies are used to create high-quality and reliable printing equipment.  The technologies are becoming more and more modernized and at the same time miniature and fragile.  Therefore, any action in relation to the printer should be careful and attentive. After the move the following problems often can occur with office equipment:  computers start to work with malfunctions, printers issue “defective” copies, which may require refilling the cartridges, or even repairing the printer, cords and other components are lost, the cases of devices are scratched, powder is scattered in the laser printer, etc. All this affects negatively on the budget and the mood of the owners.

To prevent such troublesduring the transportation of equipment, it is important to followsome simple rules.  When packaging a laser printer for transportation, make sure that you removed the cartridge, and placed it in a separate package.  It is obviously that, when shaken, toner can spill out of laser cartridge, which gets directly into the printer. The fact is that today many users prefer to use the services of companies whichofferlaser printer cartridgesrefilling of not a good quality.

Moreover, many companies that refill printer cartridges provide previously used remanufactured cartridges within the exchange program.  But such consumables are often with defects, imperceptible at first glance.  Therefore, if there is a risk of spilling of your cartridge, let it happen in a separate package, rather than inside the printer.

In this case you would have to recharge the cartridge.  Whenever you buy new home appliance or any other equipment always try to save its packaging and original boxes.  Firstly, in the case of warranty service, some companies, such as Canon, HP, etc., require the original packaging.  Secondly, in such packaging, it’s very comfortable to move the equipment without any risks of damaging. Heavy gauge equipment weighing over 50 kg must be carried with the help of straps, especially on the steps and through the rapids.  As a rule, dolly, which can be used for moving appliances, is equipped with special wheels, so it can be rolled without any problems on the smooth surface inside the premises.  However, this does not mean that your printer can be rolled on the pavement!  Do not forget to wrap the device completely with a stretch film, this will prevent its surface from damaging. If you intend to transport the printer on your own vehicle, make sure that youhave someone who would accompany you, whose task will be to look after the equipment.

By the way, do not forget to unscrew the wheels from the device before loading it into the vehicle, otherwise it will be rolled into the cabin while turning or sudden braking. Secure the dimensional equipment in the cabin firmly with the help of special fasteners.  Today every self-respecting moving company has a specially equipped transport with fasteners, securely fixing furniture or large office equipment to the board.  It is desirable to overlay the equipment with foam sheets.

Transportation of printers with CISS

Incorrect transportation of the printer with CISS can lead to some unpleasant consequences.  Firstly, you can damage the printer itself without packaging according to it its recommended instructions.  Secondly, you may have problems with the continuous ink supply system.  As a result of incorrect assembly, the miniature details of the device may be damaged or ink may be spilled around. In order to avoid such incidents, follow certain rules for transporting the printer and its components: First, prepare your printer for the process of transportation: close all the blocks, lids, trays, etc.Turn to an appropriate preparation of the system of continuous ink supply: Remove air filters from the CISS (do not loose these air filters).  Close the small holes on the ink tanks with special silicone plugs (they provide a seal, so that the ink does not get into the print head).  Then put thecontinuous Ink supply system on the printer.  It is important that the loop is not mushed for safety of such fragile device.

Keep the printer and system correctly, do not tilt or turn the printer in any way.  Be careful, when transporting, without closing the holes with a silicone stopper, the printing equipment and the print head may have serious damages.

Some Epson devices are already equipped with the original built-in CISS.  In this case, the manufacturer took care of users, providing their MFP with a special crane, which squeezes the ink cable when switching to a horizontal position and prevents the ink from flowing into the device.  Thus, following our advice on the transportation of a multifunction machine and continuous Ink supply system, you can ensure the safety of the equipment and prevent it from the slightest damages.
